August 24th - Thursday

It has been over 20 years since I last stepped foot in Vermont. I was hoping that nothing had changed...I was not disappointed. The flight to Chicago was ok, but a little cramped (aren't they all for me??). I met up with Justin Rodgers at O'Hare and we flew onto to Burlington together. It was shocking that USA Cycling severed their ties with Justin four months ago. He was one of the "good guys" out there. As I was talking to Justin at O'Hare, he received a phone call confirming a new job with the US Olympic Committee. What a brilliant piece of irony!.

Crossing over Lake Champlain into Vermont and seeing nothing but trees reminded me that 134 sq miles of forest and glorious trees just north of LA would be gone when I got back home. I was sorta hoping that Vermont would be like a foreign country with everything different than LA. Having lunch at a Quiznos shot down that wish. It took us nearly two hours to drive to Killlington
